Let’s get this party started

Welcome to Jabiru Clothing! It’s taken us a little longer than we’d hoped for but now we’re all set up and ready for you!

But first, let us introduce ourselves.

We’re Jabiru Clothing, a new apparel company focusing on stuff from birders for birders. Bird lovers ourselves, we were growing tired of not being able to buy cool t-shirts made out of good materials with local birds on them.

The idea had been marinating in our minds a little over time, but came to full fruition after a visit to Alexander Skutch’s former residence at Los Cusingos in the mountains near Perez Zeledon, Costa Rica. The place is beautifully maintained and features some nice hiking trails and excellent birding – as well as a small shop that sells t-shirts. The design was quite interesting (read that as you may) and my brother ended up buying one of the shirts. What bothered us about them was the fabric – essentially full polyester, not amazing for the weather in home in the neotropics.

Later that week, we started drafting a shirt design with a Jabiru stork on it, in front of the beautiful landscape of Palo Verde National Park. The Jabiru stork is a majestic and mystical creature with a special significance to us, a sort of spirit animal. From there on out we became a bit obsessed. Additional designs followed, all inspired by previous birding trips in our two homes: Costa Rica and Germany.

After a bit of work, and lots of hours spend designing, obtaining the necessary registrations and setting up a website that we’re quite proud of now, we’re here!

Our mission is simple: Birds and conservation of birds and their habitats is a subject that is very close to our hearts. While Jabiru Clothing is set up to be a for-profit enterprise, it is clear to us that each product sold on our website needs to directly contribute to these efforts. Regardless of price or margin, we are therefore pledging to donate $2 for each product sold to selected conservation projects. Find out more about our conservation partners here.

So go ahead, browse a bit and do something good: For yourself, and for the conservation of birds around the world.
Don’t forget to follow us on social media – we’ll regularly post updates there and it’s a good place to find out first when we’re releasing new products. We’re also setting up a Youtube Channel for all things bird, a little playground for us and a platform for you to find out who we are and how we tick.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you – so long and happy birding!
