In parts of Mexico, this little bird is considered a charm of good luck – but only if he turns towards the observer to show his spectacular red (“vermilion”) underside. If he merely exposes his black upper wings bad luck might be on the way. Or, you know, you just walk a few steps to the side to see the red color. We love them regardless.
